Terms of Use
Last updated: 30 October 2026
1. What TalkTumble is
TalkTumble is an app for learning British English (with Mr Oliver) and European Portuguese (with Mrs Inês), with conversations, lessons, stories, a grammar guide and pronunciation practice. It is developed by Farol Development in Portugal (website: faroldevelopment.com; contact: info@faroldevelopment.com). By using the app you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy.
2. Who can use it
- Adults, and young people old enough to consent on their own under the law of their country (13 in the UK and in Portugal; younger with a parent's permission).
- Children, only through a profile created and supervised by a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on the child's behalf.
3. Family code
Access is through a family code. Each family is responsible for keeping its code safe and for who uses it. If you think someone outside the family knows it, ask us for a new one.
4. AI teachers
The teachers are virtual and their replies are written by artificial intelligence. We do our best to keep them accurate and appropriate, but they may make mistakes. TalkTumble is for practice and learning; it is not an accredited course and does not replace exams or professional advice. Please do not share sensitive information in conversations (health, finances, passwords…).
Life in Portugal and Life in the UK: the guides and answers in these sections are general information written from official websites and are not legal advice. Rules change often: always confirm on the official website or with the relevant service before making decisions, and for your specific case speak to the service or a lawyer. TalkTumble is not a government service and is not linked to any public body, in Portugal or the UK.
Exams: the practice for CIPLE and the IELTS exams follows their published formats, but TalkTumble is not linked to or approved by CAPLE, IELTS, the British Council, IDP or Cambridge. The app's marks are an estimate, not an official result.
Reporting: if an answer seems offensive, harmful or wrong, report it in the app (the flag next to ‘Listen again’).
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app for anything illegal, offensive or harmful to others, not to try to get round its security or usage limits, and not to copy or resell the service. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules.
6. Content
The app, its design, the teachers, the lessons and the guide belong to Farol Development. The classic tales retold in the app are in the public domain. What you write and say in lessons stays yours; you only allow us to process it to teach you, as the Privacy Policy explains.
7. Price
TalkTumble is in testing and has not been launched to the public yet. Plans and prices will be announced at launch and shown clearly in the app and in the store (App Store or Google Play) before any purchase. Nothing is charged without your confirmation, and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time in the store settings.
8. Availability and changes
We do our best to keep the app working, but it relies on third-party services (hosting, AI, voice) and may have faults or interruptions. We may improve, change or withdraw features. If these terms change in an important way, we will let you know in the app.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from using the app or for mistakes in the teachers' replies. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Ending
You can stop using the app whenever you like and delete your data as the Privacy Policy explains.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer in another country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory rules, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
